Room Hire

There are a variety of rooms available to hire by the hour, some are wheelchair accessible on the ground floor, some are upstairs which could be accessible using a stairlift, and some are upstairs accessed only using the stairs.  Your booking could include the use of a fully equipped kitchen or the refreshment kitchenettes available depending on which room you have booked. We are located next to Lancaster's mainline train station, though not disturbed by the trains, it does allow for very easy access from the surrounding area as well as the south of England, and the north including Scotland.  There are buses that stop directly outside the building.  Please click 'Contact Us' from the dropdown menu above and use the contact form to ask any further questions, check availability, our Lettings Policy and Terms & Conditions.  We will get in touch to discuss your needs in more detail and take you through the booking process.

Room 5

This is another light and bright room which has recently been refurbished - having previously been used as the staff office for many years.  The windows allow natural light and have great views over the train station towards Morecambe and the lakeland hills beyond.  There is vinyl flooring, two larger armchairs with a side table between, a couple of tables with folding legs and six upright chairs around them, and a whiteboard/flipchart stand (please bring your own pens and paper).  The room is particularly suitable for counselling or other one-to-one work including teaching or tutoring, as well as a breakout room, small team meetings and interviews.   The room is small, but we think, perfectly formed although it is on the first floor and can only be accessed by stairs.

Porch Room

This is a cosy, carpeted space with two easy chairs and a side table between them; stacking chairs in the corner and a table that is often used as a work desk.  The room is quiet, and away from the bustle of the rest of the building, ideal for counselling, other talking therapies, or as a remote work space.  It is on the first floor and can only be accessed by stairs.

Garden

Shared use of the garden is available to book by groups who have booked a room inside; this should be booked in advance to avoid clashes with other groups and work by gardeners and volunteers, though there is no extra charge.  The garden is also available for quiet contemplation and relaxation by individuals at any time the building and grounds are open.  You are welcome to enjoy the space, we just ask that you are aware of wildlife, workers, volunteers, and groups who have booked in advance, and that you take any rubbish home with you.

Main kitchen, in use by a regular hirer

Main Kitchen

The main kitchen is attached to the Social Room on the ground floor.  Unless booked for exclusive use, the kitchen can be used without charge as a refreshment area with shared use by other users of the building and staff.  There is a pull down hatch between the kitchen and the Social Room which provides some privacy, but this is not sound proof.  A lovely spacious area, with stainless steel countertops, a plentiful supply of crockery, cutlery, pans and serving dishes, kettles, a coffee machine, a wall-mounted water heater for hot drinks, and a steriliser (all crockery and dishes must be washed in the sinks and then put through the steriliser unit before being put away).  There's a large range cooker, and a small domestic under-counter fridge.  Washing up liquid, teatowels and cleaning cloths are provided when the kitchen is used for light refreshment prep and service, but please bring your own when using the kitchen for full catering or cooking workshops etc.    If  the kitchen is used for more than refreshments it must be booked along with the Social Room. Use of the kitchen for refreshments is free of charge; for use by outside caterers or for more than just a hot drink & biscuits, there is an hourly charge.  There is a kitchenette in Room 1 and, for shared use, another one outside Rooms 3 and 4; both are well equipped for making hot drinks.  For more details please ask when making your booking.
